Looking after yourself and others can sometimes feel like being boxed into a routine, a structure, a necessity, but sticking with it and embracing that consistency can bring great beauty and great reward. Here I am in a down-dog yoga, one of the most common and known yoga positions, behind one of the amazing pieces of art by Tara Donavan at Fieldwork displayed at Smart Museum, Chicago, where she ‘reveals how order and structure give way to unpredictability and how the mundane cedes to the marvellous’. By showing up every day to our responsibilities and self, even in the face of boredom, like our yoga practice, meditation or exercise routine, we can achieve the ‘marvellous.'
